Professional Organizers, Are You One Of Them?
by
Jamie Edson Opielski
SUMMARY: There is more to being a Professional Organizer than just being creative- |
Some say, there is no way you can organize someone elses things if you cant even keep your own things organized. I say theyre wrong. It is just simply easier to go over to someone elses home or office and straighten out their mess, or at least I find it more fun to go handle another persons stuff than my own and I am a pretty organized person!
But- its a different situation for us all. Some of us dont have an organized bone in our bodies!
Think you may be interested in starting a Professional Organizer Business? One forte you should have in your pocket is creativity. As a Professional Organizer you will help your clients by organizing their offices and/or homes, or you may even choose to be a consultant by giving them ideas to get themselves organized.
- The name of your business
- Setting up your office
- Getting a license
- How much money starting up will cost
- Where and how to go about gaining clients
- What type of services you will offer and
- What to charge
- Marketing
- Work forms and more.
Obviously, as with starting any type of business there is a lot to research and investigation before investing in your new business. Take your time and use it wisely- dont jump in head first!
A Professional Organizer can choose to be a specialist in one particular field of organizing or choose to tackle all fields in home (residential) and office organizing.
There is something important you will need to decide; even if you are a good organizer you may not be good at time management or space planning. Where as you may be excellent at developing a system for files, paperwork, etc, but can totally stink at storage design. So choosing a specialty may be best instead of trying to go all out. Either way you need to be able to help your client de-clutter their clutter.
The best place to start is to do a search on Professional Organizers or Professional Organizers/Organizing Businesses. This will enable you to get the information and answers to your questions, maybe even find an actual Professional Organizer you can talk to. And remember to take one step at a time!
